The wait is over! After much speculation over who received the honor of designing Princess Eugenie's wedding dress for her royal wedding, the big moment is finally here. Princess Eugenie has just arrived at St. George's Chapel at Windsor Castle, revealing that her wedding dress is a gorgeous gown by Peter Pilotto. Unsurprisingly, it's totally fit for this fairy-tale event.
As confirmed this morning, Princess Eugenie's wedding gown was created by British designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos, who founded the British-based Peter Pilotto label. Featuring a slight off-the-shoulder neckline, long sleeves, and train, the wedding dress couldn't feel more regal and Eugenie looked positively radiant in the classic frock. The princess opted to skip the veil-a good idea for this incredibly windy day-and topped her wedding look off with the Queen's personal Greville Emerald tiara, designed by Boucheron in 1921. Talk about something borrowed! She also chose Charlotte Olympia shoes for her wedding-another nod to British fashion. Her diamond-and-emerald drop earrings were a wedding gift from her groom.
Beyond gorgeous, the gown was also sweetly sentimental. The frock's dipped back showed off Eugenie's scar from a childhood scoliosis operation. The reveal was an intentional one, as the bride told ITV that she specifically requested the silhouette for that reason. "I'm patron of the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital Appeal and I had an operation when I was 12 on my back," she explained. "It's a lovely way to honor the people who looked after me and a way of standing up for young people who also go through this."
The jacquard weave of the fabric also contained some hidden symbols special to the bride. According to a press release from the Royal Family, the fabric included a thistle for Scotland (due to the couple's fondness for Balmoral, a Scottish castle on a royal estate), a shamrock (a nod to Eugenie's Irish heritage on her mother's side), and the York rose and ivy (representing the couple's home).
